Trait An attribute or character of an individual within a species for which heritable differences can be defined.

Species A group of organisms belong to the same biological species, if they are capable of interbreeding to produce fertile offspring. However the biological test of a species is not always available, and so there is also a morphological species concept based on anatomical similarities.
Heritability H#178;. The proportion of total phenotypic variance at the population level that is contributed by genetic variance (also called heritability in the broad sense).
Heritability in the narrow sense: The proportion of phenotypic variance that can be attributed to additive genetic variance.
